At only 36 years old, Marie Curie is the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only one to receive two. Thanks to his research, great progress has been made in medicine.
Today recognized throughout the world as the most brilliant scientist of her time, Marie Curie also leaves an inestimable moral legacy. A strong and courageous woman, she fought throughout her life for women's rights, social progress and emancipation through knowledge.
She will then become a model for many young girls who dream of great exploits.
MONO-HAND WATCHES
MONO-HAND WATCHES
Simplicity is preferred: the minute and second hands disappear, the daily time is displayed at a glance. This concept is a cure for the anguish of passing time as well as a wonderful way to cherish it by changing ones philosophy of life...
SUPER-LUMINOVA DIAL
In 1898, while carrying out research on radioactivity, Pierre and Marie Curie discovered a new chemical element in a uranium ore: “Radium”.
It was used until the 50s in watchmaking for its luminescent properties. Thanks to a special paint, the watch hands became visible in the dark.
Today, Super-LumiNova has replaced this technique which was dangerous for health.
In homage to this discovery, when your watch is plunged into darkness, reading the time is simplified by an illuminated dial at the hour markers and its hand.
READING TIME
READING TIME
GUSTAVE & cie watches have only one hand which indicates the hours and minutes simultaneously. As on a traditional watch, the hand of our 12-hour collections circles the dial twice during the day.
Each index of our Marie represents 10 minutes.
